Reflections from our New Co-Directors

Tamazha, she/her (Co-Director of Food Systems & Finance): Looking back on my start as a Public Health intern I was blown away by the magic of Fresh Future Farm (honorable mention to my first taste of our produce – yummy mustard greens on a ham sandwich). It went from being a position I asked for to fulfill my degree requirements at the College of Charleston to me manifesting that I’d never have to leave! Fast forward almost four years and I have a dream job that is fully aligned with my views on social justice working with some of my favorite people. I look forward to leaning into my creativity while contributing to the food access landscape and growing the next generation of farmers in South Carolina and beyond.

Adrian, he/him (Co-Director of Operations & Education): After my mom got my high school report card showing a lot of tardies in the afternoon (someone had to walk the girls to their classes), she catfished me into a farm job. I remember a field full of grass and a giant pile of cardboard and wood chips and her telling me to get to work. Back then I used to watch the clock to count down when it was time to go home. When we opened the store in 2016, I could see that the elders appreciated all the fresh produce and the small efforts to make FFF a welcoming space. Now, I love starting crops from seed and hearing our customers rave about the taste. Two of my favorite crops are the super sweet sugarcane and delicious hibiscus. Everything has come full circle and now I’m the one explaining to our youth interns why we pull weeds, sheet mulch and compost.
